LACP, or Link Aggregation Control Protocol, is a standard defined by IEEE 802.3ad for bundling or bonding multiple physical network ports together into one virtual device. This provides both high availability and load balancing. Participants in an LACP aggregation actively communicate with each other using LACPDUs every 1 second or 30 seconds to maintain knowledge of the bond configuration.
